Uruguayan Edinson Cavani, Manchester United striker, escaped a heavy punishment.
According to the British newspaper “The Sun”, Cavani will not face a penalty after assaulting Everton defender Yerry Mina during United’s victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.
The Uruguayan attacker grabbed Mina by his throat and pushed him to the ground.
Video technology is not applied in the League Cup until the semi-finals of the tournament, so Cavani is threatened to be suspended for 3 matches due to violent behavior upon reviewing the game.
The British newspaper pointed out that the referee said in his report that he had seen the scene, which means that no action was taken against Cavani, “because the person in charge of managing the match saw that it did not deserve to be dismissed.”
