The Premier League and other major sporting competitions in England have received a warning about the Christmas period and the beginning of the new year 2021.
John Ashton, the former public health director in northwest England, warned in statements to The British Telegraph that many matches and tournaments could be postponed during the Christmas period, and the beginning of the new year.
Ashton expected an increase in the number of cases infected with the Coronavirus in the coming days.
The Coronavirus began to hit sports competitions in England, especially football and rugby, and led to the postponement of some matches.
The epidemic has caused meetings, most notably Newcastle and Aston Villa, to be postponed in the Premier League, despite the strict rules in place to limit the spread of infection.
Ashton explained in his statements that many are fleeing London now after it became the first major city to be placed in the 4th level in the estimates of the spread rate of the epidemic.
He pointed out that the exit of many from London at this rate means the possibility of some transferring the epidemic outside the city, and therefore matters need more stringent measures to control the situation, he said.
