Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the next match against Fulham in the twelfth round of the English Premier League will not be easy.
Liverpool are second on the table, on goal difference behind Tottenham, and the Fulham match will mark the last rehearsal for the Reds before the upcoming confrontation with Tottenham in the middle of the week.
Klopp said in a virtual press conference on Friday evening: “The performances made by Fulham were not rewarded with the required results, but they will do everything against Liverpool.”
Klopp indicated that his players will not play the Fulham confrontation, while they are thinking of the fiery confrontation against Tottenham, but he confirmed that his injured players will not play in Saturday’s match, with the possibility of the absence of others.
The German coach added: “Kostas (Tsimikas) … we have to see what will happen. Diogo (Jota) was also bruised, (Alex) Oxlade Chamberlain is going through the usual exercises, but I fear that no one will return.”
However, the German coach made it clear that there is an opportunity for Brazilian goalkeeper Alison Becker to participate in front of Fulham, after missing the last three games because of injury, if the team completed training today without problems.
About his feelings about the lack of matches in the Champions League until next February, Klopp said: “For us, nothing has changed, only the names of the competitors, there is nothing we will enjoy with the injuries we have.”
Klopp praised young midfield player Leighton Clarkson, who fought against Mittelland, his first match with the first team, saying: “It was a good match for a boy of his age, you cannot imagine how much better he was than he appeared that night.”
