Chelsea coach Frank Lampard said winger Hakim Ziyech will miss Arsenal’s away match in the Premier League on Saturday due to a muscle problem, while defenders Ben Chilwell and Reese James are doubted after they were bruised.
Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax Amsterdam before the start of the current season for 40 million euros (48.81 million dollars), according to press reports, but the 27-year-old missed the start of the season due to injury.
The Moroccan international has not played since Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Leeds United on 5 December 7.
“Ziyash will not be ready for the Arsenal match … he suffered another muscle injury. We have to wait for him to recover,” Lampard told a news conference.
And he added, “It is not a long injury, and we hope to get it back next week, and we hope that he will provide us with what he was presenting before.”
Both Chilwell and James were bruised during the week and there are doubts about their participation in the match at Emirates Stadium and facing Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge two days later.
“I cannot give an answer at the moment. I am not sure they are ready for the two matches,” Lampard added.
Lampard is 5th in the league with 25 points from 14 matches.
