Frank Lampard, Chelsea coach, confirmed that his team’s preparations for Manchester City, in the English Premier League, next Sunday, will go ahead, despite the emergence of Coronavirus’ new cases in the ranks of the two teams this week.
The City match against Everton on Monday was postponed after several cases of infection emerged at the club.
The first team resumed training on Wednesday, after tests came back negative.
“I am studying the possibilities of postponing the match, but it will be played on time until this moment,” Lampard told a news conference on Friday.
He added: “We know that Manchester City has suffered from the emergence of some positive cases.”
Lampard confirmed defender Reece James was excluded from the weekend match due to a muscle injury, but winger Hakim Ziyech returned to training after recovering from a hamstring problem.
