Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne gave the citizens a 2-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League.
Sterling opened the scoring for City on Saturday, to end a serie of six games in all competitions without a goal, when he was served a slick pass from De Bruyne and calmly beaten Areola.
Fulham tried to soak up City’s pressure as Scott Parker’s tactical plan was.
De Bruyne, who missed his last penalty against Liverpool, added a second from the penalty spot after Sterling had been awkwardly beaten down by Fulham’s Joachim Andersen. He sent Areola the wrong way with a confident spot-kick.
City went into cruise control for the remainder of the game, although Ivan Cavaleiro briefly flickered into life for Fulham when he cut inside and saw a speculative effort saved by Ederson.
Pep Guardiola celebrated victory and Manchester City is tomporary ranking 5th with 18 points gotten from 10 matches.
