Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke of his readiness to face Watford tomorrow, Saturday, in the FA Cup, at the match press conference held on Friday.
Solskjaer began the press conference by talking about the impact of the Coronavirus on his list: “I think we are following the protocol well, but Facundo Pellistri is still positive, he is in good condition and we hope for his return quickly, far from that, the list is complete.”
Looking at the reaction after losing to Manchester City in the League Cup semi-finals: “We feel frustrated when we bid farewell to a competition, we wanted to take a step forward, but this season we showed our ability to come back, and we did so after losing to Arsenal (1-0) and Tottenham (6-) 1) And out of the Champions League.
He added: “We will enter the next match with a desire to win, and we are participating in the competition with the aim of winning it. We will make some changes in the basic formation, but we will involve a team that I fully trust.”
Solskjaer touched on to talk about Odion Ighalo: “It will be a special match for Odeon against Watford. He is on the list and trains well. He did not lose his quality. It was difficult for him to get off the list a lot, especially since he did well until last summer.”
He continued, “He did not get many opportunities this season, but he showed professionalism and a positive impact in the locker rooms.”
Solskjaer commented on the concern about the outbreak of the Coronavirus: “In the first place we are concerned about what is happening in society and the country, this is a big matter, in turn, I feel safe in our bubble, we have taken all measures and followed the protocol and instructions.”
He continued: “The players are committed, but what is happening outside is terrifying, and we have a responsibility to follow the instructions, and I hope that we will continue playing because of its impact on the fans’ isolation.”
In view of the players expected to leave in January, namely Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo: “The duo have a contract that extends until the summer, and it will not be extended, and we want that they find other clubs.”
And added: ” We gave Marcos the opportunity to return to Argentina, as well as Sergio, but they are professional and work hard, and they will be ready if we want to involve either of them.”
As for the new deal, Amad Diallo: “He is not with us yet in training, I see that there are many high expectations about him, and he is a really exciting player and we look forward to giving him the opportunity to develop and succeed with Manchester United, and we will give him time to adapt, whether by participating with the U-23 team or with First team”.
