A Spanish press report revealed, today, Wednesday, that the Liverpool star sticks to Barcelona’s dream next summer.
The Dutchman, Georginio Wijnaldum (30 years), was part of Barcelona’s contracting plan, but the financial crisis that the Catalan club suffers from, stood in the completion’s way of the deal last summer.
Wijnaldum has a contract with Liverpool until the end of the current season, and is entitled to sign for any other club this month.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, expectations were that Wijnaldum was renewing his contract with Liverpool after his transfer to Barcelona failed last summer.
The newspaper added that the Dutch midfielder is refusing to sign a new contract with Liverpool now, hoping to move to Barcelona in the summer as a free player.
Jurgen Klopp, the Reds coach, still wants Wijnaldum at Anfield, as he is a staple in the Liverpool squad, but it seems that the player has a different opinion.
It is expected that Wijnaldum’s fate with Barcelona will be decided in the last week of this month, specifically with the arrival of the new Catalan club’s president, whether by seeking to include him in the current Mercato or waiting for the summer.
